We had ace film director, writer and editor Mahesh Narayanan visiting Niv Film Studios and Art Centre at Neb Sarai today, a memorable visit which turned into an insightful roundtable with the team on the future of film studios, changing landscape of film production, digital distribution, the dubbing of Indian and International films into regional languages, film festival marketing, international rights etc. Mahesh was generous with his time and absolutely insightful with his perspective on how OTT, technology and commercial considerations are pushing the nature of cinema as we know it into perhaps a saturation point.
He is currently visiting Delhi with his latest film ‘Ariyippu’ (2022) which was screened at the Habitat Film Festival on Friday. Our colleague Shivangi Mathew was an assistant director on ‘Ariyippu’, which made his visit even more memorable for all of us. His recent past work as director also include films such as Malik (2021), CU Soon (2020), and Take off (2017) and as editor include Aarkkariyam (2020), Nayattu (2020), Uyare (2019), Vishwaroopam II (2018), etc.
